Concert, lessons and discussions on the 3rd Thuringian Accordion Day

The Accordion Department at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, in cooperation with the Thuringian branch of the DALV (German Accordion Teachers' Association), is organising the Thuringian Accordion Day for the third time.

This day of exchange and encounter with the accordion on Saturday, 14 June from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Beethoven House Belvedere is intended to reach and appeal to learners and teachers alike. Admission to the Accordion Day is free.

‘This day thrives on the give and take between generations,’ says Weimar accordion professor Claudia Buder, organiser and host. ‘The youngest members of the community are invited to hear what is important to students in their training.’ In a welcome concert at 9:30 a.m. and a final concert at 5:00 p.m., the university's accordion students will present the diverse sound possibilities of their instrument.

This day is also of particular interest to music school teachers, who can observe their own students in the training process, as they will be taught publicly by the Weimar students. The six lessons will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

This observation can raise questions such as: How do I experience the lessons? What is being taught? What can I learn? ‘The open lessons are then reflected on together, enabling a development process for all participants,’ explains Claudia Buder.

The shared experience of music and education serves to build bridges between different educational institutions and provides a space for questions and answers about accordion training and development.

Registrations for this third edition of the Thuringian Accordion Day have already been received from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. ‘The interest shows that the Thuringian Accordion Day can open up future possibilities,’ says Claudia Buder. In addition to the concerts and lesson evaluations, there will be time and space for discussions and brainstorming.
