Support association of the University of Music awards two Franz Liszt Prizes for the first time
In the spirit of Franz Liszt and in memory of his generous support for his fellow musicians and fellow human beings, the Support Association of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar awards the Franz Liszt Prize, worth €2,000, every year.
For the first time, the association has selected two winners for 2024: Stefanie Dzjubak, a master's student in music education at grammar schools, and Danylo Denysov, a bachelor's student in classical guitar.
The students received their Franz Liszt Prize at the matriculation ceremony for the winter semester 24/25 in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus of the University of Music in Weimar. ‘Both students have impressed us with their outstanding academic performance, versatility in a professional context and additional social commitment in very different areas,’ explains the chairwoman of the University of Music's Support association, Prof. Ulrike Rynkowski-Neuhof. ‘Since the Support association did not select a winner in 2023, we took the liberty of making this special decision.’
Stefanie Dzjubak has been volunteering at her university and beyond for years, in addition to her time-consuming and demanding studies. Her activities include the departmental and student council, working on the diversity audit, the language working group and the advisory board for equal opportunities.
She also chairs the University and Student Advisory Board of the City of Weimar. ‘To fit all of this into a 24-hour day is quite an accomplishment and deserves recognition not only from her professors and fellow students,’ says Prof. Ulrike Rynkowski-Neuhof.
Danylo Denysov recently completed his bachelor's degree in classical guitar in Weimar. Originally from Ukraine, he fled the war in his home country, first to Prague and finally to Weimar. During the past semester, he taught a total of 17 hours per week at various music schools while studying.
He is also involved in the departmental and faculty councils, as well as the committee for studies and teaching. Outside of the university, Denysov is also active in the volunteer fire brigade in the Weimar district of Ehringsdorf. ‘These are activities that hardly leave any free time and deserve the utmost respect,’ says the chair of the association.
