The "Days of Chamber Music" with twelve concerts at four venues
For more than ten years, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar has presented a special treat at the end of each semester – the "Days of Chamber Music". They have become a sought-after institution, and the ensembles on the stages are always happy to welcome a loyal crowd of interested listeners.
From 21 June to 7 July, students from the instrumental classes will present the works they have prepared in four different halls, spanning the last four centuries of music.
"It is always a pleasure to see young musicians on stage, demonstrating their commitment," says Prof. Christian Wilm Müller, the artistic director of the Chamber Music Days. "We invite you to come to the various venues – Notenbank, Saal Am Palais, Festsaal Fürstenhaus and Forum Seebach." Admission to all twelve concerts is free.
The opening concert on Friday, 21 June at 7:30 pm in the Notenbank will be held under the motto "Mixed at the beginning" and will include two works for horn quartet: Eugene Bozza's "Suite for four Horns" and Constantin Homilius' "Quartett in B flat op. 38". Richard Strauss' Violin Sonata in E flat major op. 18 is also on the programme. The second concert, also at 7:30 pm on 22 June, is entitled "Solo plus x" and will be held at the Notenbank.
The third concert, "From Beethoven to the Present", on Sunday 23 June at 7:30 pm in the Saal Am Palais, will cover a particularly wide range of music: from Ludwig van Beethoven's fourth string quartet op. 18, to duos and trios by Brahms, a sextet by Poulenc, and a contemporary piece for two trumpets by Josh Rogan entitled "Fanfare, Reflection and Ending".
The fourth concert, on 25 June at 7:30 pm in the Notenbank, will take the audience on a journey to more southern climes: under the motto "Tango in the brothel", the programme will include Astor Piazzolla's "Historie du Tango" for violin and guitar, as well as Manuel de Falla's "7 canciones populares españolas" for guitar and double bass.
