University of Music awards 26 Germany Scholarships in the academic year 2023/24
Thanks to the generous support of foundations, companies and private sponsors, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT has once again been able to award numerous Germany Scholarships for the current academic year. The 26 selected scholarship holders officially received their certificates from University President Prof. Anne-Kathrin Lindig at a ceremony in the Saal Am Palais on Thursday, 25 January. The musicians themselves provided a musical setting with a personal touch: Works for organ, violin, bassoon quintet, voice and piano were performed.
The scholarship holders will receive 300 euros per month from October 2023 to September 2024. The scholarships, half of which are funded by private donors and half by the federal government, are awarded for proven outstanding artistic, educational or academic achievements before or during their studies or special successes. Social commitment and special personal and family circumstances are also taken into account in the selection process.
The largest scholarship provider this academic year is the Ernst Frreiberger Foundation. It is awarding a total of ten "Christoph Stölzl German Scholarships". Anna Betker (accordion), Abdakhmed Orazbakov (piano), Danylo Denysov (guitar), Pauline Hillebrandt (vocals), Conrad Jacobshaben (viola), Helena Jensch (improvised vocals), Maasa Morimoto (violin), Sofiia Mushtai (piano), Anselm Siebelitz (cello) and Ian Vais (vocals) will benefit from these scholarships.
The Vera and Volker Doppelfeld Foundation is supporting Elena Agafonnikova (voice), Yun Ling Feng (bassoon), Pauline Hoffmann (violin), Johanna Kegel (viola), Anastasia Schevtschenko (voice) and Lucija Stivcevic (guitar) with a total of six scholarships. Two scholarships come from the Ernst Abbe Foundation in Jena. It supports Michael Stemmer (church music) and Thea Sophie Ulbricht (cultural management).
In addition, there are a number of donors, some of whom have been donors for many years, who make individual scholarships possible with their commitment: Ádám Baross (conducting), for example, receives a Deutschlandstipendium with the support of Prof Dr Wolfram Eberbach and Dr Birgit Eberbach-Born. Birgit and Frank Siegmund are sponsoring Eike Coetzee (viola). The Löhr family is funding the scholarship for Silvino Do Prado Almeida (musicology).
Dr Gernot Gunther Moegelin is supporting Stefanie Dzjubak (school music). Dr Karl-Heinz Weiss provides funding for Clemens Helm (school music). Franz Hofereiter (violoncello) receives support from Dr Hans-Reinhard Hunger in the form of a "Paul Friebe German Scholarship". Prof Dr Ada Sasse and Prof Dr Roland Merten support Brunhilde Lorek (school music). The NEUE LISZT STIFTUNG / Carin Riesen Foundation supports Maximilian Peter's scholarship (musicology).
