Final concert of the 65th Weimar Master Classes with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra in the Weimarhalle
Intensive rehearsals are currently underway in the daily orchestra studio with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra. The aim is to determine which participants of the 65th Weimar Master Classes will be allowed to take to the big stage as ‘the best at the end’ on Saturday, 2 August at 7:30 p.m. in the Weimarhalle.
Highly talented musicians from a total of nine different instrumental and vocal courses will present their interpretations of classical and romantic solo concertos and selected opera arias under the proven direction of Markus L. Frank.
Five participants have already been nominated and can look forward to exciting performances with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, a loyal partner of the Weimar Master Classes for decades.
Jakob Solle from Alexey Stadler's cello course will play the first movement from Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104. Ben Lepetit from Michail Lifits' piano course will perform the first movement from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 30. Conrad Jacobshagen from Barbara Westphal's viola class will perform the first movement of William Walton's Viola Concerto.
Mimi Lin from Jean-Louis Capezzali's oboe class will provide further timbres. She will play the first movement of Ludwig August Lebrun's Oboe Concerto No. 1 in D minor. And it has already been confirmed that the young violinist Aila Krohn from Ingolf Turban's course will perform the first movement of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4, K. 2018.
They will be joined by singers from Silke Evers' singing class and instrumentalists from Lukas Hagen's violin class, Jana Boušková's harp class and Kontantin Scherbakov's piano class.
The evening before, chamber music will be the order of the day when selected participants from the courses taught by Lukas Hagen (violin), Konstantin Scherbakov (piano) and Jana Boušková (harp) take to the stage in a joint concert entitled ‘Meisterhaft II’ on Friday, 1 August at 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.
Tickets for ‘Die Besten zum Schluss’ are available for 20 euros, concessions 15 euros, and tickets for the ‘Meisterhaft’ concert are available for 15 euros, concessions 10 euros, from the Weimar Tourist Information Office and at the box office.
