Call for peaceful coexistence
Statement by the University President
University President Prof Anne-Kathrin Lindig comments on current events in the world as follows:
"We are experiencing a time of crisis, characterised by terrible wars, especially in Ukraine and the Middle East, but also in other parts of the world. As a university of music, we stand for reconciliation, peace and international understanding. We condemn all forms of terror, hatred and aggression. We are firmly opposed to marginalisation, racism and anti-Semitism.
We sympathise with all people, especially the civilian population, who are suffering from the consequences of war.
We appeal to those responsible to stop the killing and not to allow any more civilian casualties.
We are actively committed to peaceful, humane coexistence and are thus following our mission and tradition of uniting different denominations and nationalities in peace and creating harmony through music.
The upcoming Christmas as a celebration of peace reminds us of our responsibility to share this only world available to us peacefully."
