Christiane Spannhof received her first musical training at the conservatory in her hometown of Rostock. From 1978 to 1982, she studied at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar with Prof. Jürgen Rost. In 1983, she won second prize at the Radio France International Guitar Competition in Paris, followed by first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Havana (Cuba) in 1984, where she also received the special prize for the best interpretation of a Latin American work.
Christiane Spannhof has developed an extensive concert career in Germany and abroad, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in various ensembles. She has participated in numerous recordings and productions for radio and television stations. Since 1992, she has been professor of guitar at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar. From 2003 to 2022, she served as director of the Department of Guitar and, for many years, as vice dean of Faculty I.
