Interim financial aid funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
Interim financial aid provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is intended to help those students who can prove that they are faced with financial hardship caused by the pandemic, who need immediate help and are unable to overcome their pandemic-related hardship by making use of other support. Interim financial aid can be applied for by German and foreign students. Students benefiting from loans, scholarships or similar in the relevant month are not excluded from applying for interim financial aid.

Financial aid for students in need
The Studierendenwerk Thüringen has made funds available to support students in need. You can get an interest-free loan of up to 800 euros to secure the students' livelihood.
You can apply online via the general social counselling of the Studierendenwerk: asb(at)stw-thueringen.de.
On the website of the Studierendenwerk you can find the corresponding application form (in German and English) as well as further information on how to apply.
Half of the amount granted must be repaid. The Free State of Thuringia takes over the other half of the loan amount. Students must therefore repay a maximum of 400 euros.
Stipendien: Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten für Studierende
Verschiedene öffentliche und private Stiftungen loben Stipendien aus. Einige fördern Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sämtlicher Studiengänge im gesamten Bundesgebiet.
Andere vergeben regionale Stipendien, die Studierende eines bestimmten Geburts- oder Studienortes fördern, oder fachspezifische Förderungen, die Studierende eines besonderen Fachbereichs oder Abschlussarbeiten verschiedener Themenschwerpunkte mit finanziellen Hilfen und Mentoring unterstützen.
