Cosmopolitan Thuringia

The University of Music supports the Thuringia-wide initiative

With around 45 per cent international students from more than 50 nations, a large number of international teachers and staff and numerous active collaborations with institutions around the world, cosmopolitanism is part of everyday life at the University of Music.

This is why the university has been part of the WELTOFFENES THÜRINGEN initiative from the very beginning, which was officially presented to the public on Thursday, 25 January in Jena's Old Town Hall. The initiative's message has been widely publicised in the media - for example in the "Tagesschau" and "Heute Journal" - far beyond the borders of Thuringia.

Concerned about democracy in our state, organisations and people from all over the state are involved in "Weltoffenes Thüringen". The initiative already has more than 4,000 supporters, including associations, clubs, the church, commercial enterprises, scientific, cultural and educational institutions and a large number of individuals. Together, all supporters stand for diversity, respect for human dignity and indivisible human rights as well as for plural democracy and the rule of law.

The University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar is committed to a cosmopolitan, international, diverse and multifaceted Thuringia. We see ourselves as ambassadors to the world, and our doors are open to the whole world.
