Alejandro Coello Calvo is a percussionist, composer and pianist, who was born in 1989, in Leon, Spain.

He studied in the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca, in which he received a special award for graduating with honors and whereby he attended classes with Professor Tomás Martin. Simultaneously, he reached a "Professional Grade" (specializing in harpsichord) with professor Alfonso Sebastián Alegre.

Subsequently, Coello moved to Weimar, Germany, in order to finish his Concert Exam as a solo percussionist with Professor Markus Leoson at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.

He has participated in contemporary music ensembles such as the "Plural Ensamble", "Smash Ensamble", "Ensemble Iberomaericano", "Perc'air Dúo" (With the saxophonist Xabier Casal, Festival de Santander). He has been conducted by Zsolt Nagy, Jose Manuel López López, Fabian Panisello and Jean Paul Dessy among others.

In 2011, and as a member of Mix Stick duo, he received the First and Golden Prize in the International Percussion Festival and Competition, in Shanghai, China.

In 2012, he collaborated in the Youth Percussion Pool directed by Tatiana Koleva, receiving the Ensemble of the Year Award, in Bulgaria.

Currently, Coello performs concerts as a soloist and gives as well percussion intensive courses in China, Mexico, Spain, Germany, among others. At only 23 years old, he became percussion solo teacher at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, where he works simultaneously with his composing projects.

As a composer he has written solo and ensemble pieces. He has been commissioned twice by the Ensamble Vocal Contemporáneo de Tenerife, but most of his dedication is focused on Film and TV projects.
