  • 1976, born in Marburg; first trumpet lessons aged nine, trombone lessons from the age of twelve
  • 1993, tuition from Prof. R. Nietert at the conservatoire 'Dr Hochs' in Frankfurt (Main)
  • 1994–1996, pre-student scholarship with Prof. R. Nietert at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt (Main)
  • 1995, first prize at the national level of 'Jugend musiziert' in the category trombone, age-group 18–20
  • 1996, studies of the trombone (orchestral diploma) with Prof. R. Nietert at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt (Main)
  • 1997, change of institution in order to work with Prof. B. Slokar at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau
  • since 2000, principal trombonist with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (RSB)
  • 2001, completion of studies at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau
  • 2002, scholar with the 'Deutscher Musikrat'
  • cover posts with the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bamberger Sinfoniker, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin, and others

  • 2002–2007, lecturer of trombone as a core subject and for chamber music (brass instruments) at the music department of the Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg
  • 2009, tutor for the brass section of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, conducted by Susanna Mälkki
  • December 2009, appointment as professor of trombone at the Universityof Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar
