    Jazz Orchestra

Since its foundation in October 1996, the jazz orchestra of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar has become one of the region's best ensembles. The musicians perform classic big band repertoires by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Thad Jones, as well as works by composers such as Bob Mintzer, Peter Herbolzheimer, and Bob Brookmeyer. The ensemble regularly joins forces with composers, arrangers, guest conductors, or guest soloists, most often grappling with contemporary musical developments in jazz and other musics.
