    University Orchestra

The University Orchestra is one of the most excellent orchestras in its category in Germany. In its tradition as Germany's first orchestral school, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar has always paid special attention to the intensive rehearsal work and best possible performance quality of its most important young ensemble. For students of orchestral instruments, these practical music experiences are an integral, indispensable part of their studies and at the same time serve to prepare them for their future careers. In the proven hands of principal conductor Nicolás Pasquet as well as renowned guest conductors, the university orchestra has earned a reputation that extends far beyond Weimar. Although the student orchestra rotates its line-up almost every semester, the symphony concerts, most of which take place in the Weimarhalle, remain at the same high level. All the students are passionate about music and work with passion for their professional success, so that the varied concert programmes with large repertoire works, rarely performed concerts or world premieres are refined to the greatest possible perfection and interpretative radiance during the semester-long projects. The soloists are mostly highly advanced students of the university who, with their performance, complete an important part of their concert exam as the highest artistic degree.
