Trio Incendio from Prague makes its debut at the Weimar Master Classes with romantic piano trios
Two years ago, the Czech Trio Incendio won 2nd prize at the International JOSEPH JOACHIM Chamber Music Competition in Weimar. Now the three musicians from Prague are returning to the city on the Ilm to make their debut at the 64th Weimar Master Classes on Sunday, 28 July at 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.
Karolína Františová (piano), Filip Zaykov (violin) and Vilém Petras (cello) will be performing three piano trios from their home country. Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Weimar and at the box office for 15 euros (concession 10 euros).
The programme opens with the second piano trio in C minor by Josef Suk, who sought the advice of his 33-year-older compatriot Antonín Dvořák in the refinement of the composition.
Dvořák's own second piano trio in G minor, a romantic early work, will also be performed. These two works will be contrasted with the late and very mature Piano Trio No. 3 in C major by Bohuslav Martinů.
The Trio Incendio was founded in Prague in 2016. In addition to its success at the Joachim Competition in Weimar, it has also won prizes at the Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna, the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition, the Kiejstut Bacewicz Competition in Lodz, the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award in Lugano, the Coop Music Awards in Cremona, the Concorso Musicale Marcello Pontillo in Florence and the Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Prague.
The young ensemble has already performed in some of Europe's most important concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall in London and the Rudolfinum in Prague. It has also been invited to festivals such as the Verbier Festival, Davos Festival, Ticino Musica, Prague Spring and Ohrid Summer Festival.
The trio had the opportunity to work on Schubert's two piano trios at two public masterclasses given by Alfred Brendel. One of these was released by the Czech label Supraphon.
The Trio Incendio is an alumni ensemble of the European Chamber Music Academy, where it has worked with personalities such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl and other members of the Artis Quartet, Julius Berger, Alexander Lonquich, Karla Haltenwanger (Boulanger Trio), Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Stefan Mendl (Vienna Piano Trio), Marianna Shirinyan, Boris Berman, Itamar Golan, Jan Talich (Talich Quartet), Vida Vujić, Patrick Jüdt, Minna Pensola (Meta4 Quartet), Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet) and Hyung-ki Joo, and has performed on stages in various countries.
