AI in music

New episode of the LISZTEN podcast with music theory professor Jörn Arnecke

In the eleventh episode of LISZTEN, presenter Christofer Hameister talks to music theorist and composer Jörn Arnecke.

Jörn Arnecke, professor of music theory and composer himself, discusses how artificial intelligence will change the world of music. For him, it is clear that the unstoppable development needs to be shaped. Perhaps AI will be able to take over routine tasks in the future, leaving us more room for creativity? Will musical quality perhaps even increase as a result of AI? What risks should we not lose sight of?

In the podcast, the music theorist also talks about how he came to specialise in his field and why it also plays an important role for instrumentalists.

In the 150th anniversary year of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, the new podcast LISZTEN was launched. We don't look back at our history, but talk to the people who shape the University today.

Who teaches, studies and works here? How did they find their way to music and to the University? And what keeps them busy outside of music? Every month, different people from the fields of study, teaching and administration have their say - unfiltered and honest.

Presenter Christofer Hameister studied school music at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar and completed his journalistic traineeship at Antenne Thüringen in Weimar. Since 2019, he has been presenting various programmes on radio and television for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
