The best for last

Final concert of the "Weimar Master Classes" with the Jena Philharmonic in the Weimarhalle

Some concert guests plan their holidays around this date so that they can be there: the 63rd Weimar Master Classes at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar traditionally end with the “best for last”. At the final concert on Saturday, July 29th at 7:30 p.m. in the Weimarhalle, the Jena Philharmonic, under the proven direction of Markus L. Frank, will accompany selected participants from various instrumental and singing courses who had previously proven themselves in the orchestra studio rehearsals.

It is a parade of young talents: This time, as a special timbre, also with participants in the singing master class by Christiane Iven, who will sing opera arias on stage, among other things. The audience can also look forward to Sua Lee from South Korea, who took part in Konstantin Scherbakov's piano course. She plays excerpts from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto in F sharp minor op. 1. Vinzent Reinisch from Robert D. Levin's course will also perform the 3rd movement from Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor on the concert grand piano.

The colorful concert bouquet of the final concert will be supplemented by Annika Fuchs from Tanja Becker-Bender's violin course, who will perform the first movement of Peter I. Tchaikovsky's famous violin concerto op. 35. Aaron Schröer was selected from Wen-Sinn Yang's cello course and will present himself with the first movement of Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor op. 104.

Further participants will be determined in the ongoing rehearsals of the orchestra studio for "The Best at the End". Admission tickets for 20 euros, concessions 15 euros, are available from the Tourist Information Weimar and at the box office.

On Friday, July 28th at 7:30 p.m. in the Schiesshaus, it will be “masterful” again beforehand, when participants in the courses by Lukas Hagen (violin), Charles Neidich (clarinet) and Christiane Iven (vocals) will perform solo works, chamber music as well as songs and arias to the audience. Among others, the violinist Maya Wichert, who won first prize at the last Weimar Spohr Violin Competition, can be experienced. She plays the Andante tranquillo from Béla Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 2, accompanied on the piano by Oksana Andriyenko.

Tickets for the "Meisterhaft" concert for 12 euros, concessions 8 euros, are available from the Tourist Information Weimar and at the box office.
