New episode of the podcast "Liszten" with Prof. Gero Schmidt-Oberländer

In the seventh episode of LISZTEN, host Christofer Hameister talks to music educator Prof. Gero Schmidt-Oberländer.

What role does music play in education? Why should pupils first learn to make music before they learn to write notes? Gero Schmidt-Oberländer, Professor of Practical School Piano Playing and Director of the Department of Music Education and Church Music, talks about how music education has changed in recent decades - and what changes are still to come.

The current professor also chats with presenter Christofer Hameister about his own student days. How did he come to study music in the first place and then to Weimar? Listen in!

In the 150th anniversary year of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, the new podcast "Liszten" was launched. We don't look back at our history, but talk to the people who shape the university today.

Who teaches, studies and works here? How did they find their way to music and the university? And what keeps them busy outside of music? Every month, different people from the fields of study, teaching and administration have their say - unfiltered and honest.

Presenter Christofer Hameister studied school music at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and completed his journalistic traineeship at Antenne Thüringen in Weimar. Since 2019, he has been presenting various radio and television programmes for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
