Fascination français

A resounding conclusion to the 13th Liedtage with a moderated scholarship concert

The 13th Liedtage at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar will conclude with the motto "Fascination français". French songs by non-French composers will be performed on Tuesday, 4 July at 7:30 pm in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.

Mezzo-soprano Christel Loetzsch and pianist Teodora Oprisor, who have been scholarship holders in the Thuringian Excellence Programme for the promotion of young artists for the past four semesters, will be on stage. In the second part of the concert, the song duo will interpret chansons by George Enescu, "Mélodies passagères" by Samuel Barber and the songs from "La Bonne Cuisine" ("The Good Kitchen") penned by Leonard Bernstein.

Before the break, the two graduates will present and moderate the results of their pedagogical work with a total of five other song duos from the Musikhochschule in their "scholarship concert". The programme will then include French songs by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt, Manuel de Falla and Benjamin Britten. Admission to the concert is free!

The German mezzo-soprano Christel Loetzsch and the Romanian pianist Teodora Oprisor have been scholarship holders in the Thuringian Excellence Programme for the promotion of young female artists for the purpose of further pedagogical qualification for the past four semesters. Christel Loetzsch's focus was on the connection and interaction of understanding and diction in French and Italian songs and arias. It was a matter of mastering them vocally, tested both in individual and group lessons.

Teodora Oprisor's focus was not only on text-related duo lessons, but also on handing out little of the usual repertoire as well as on practical tips for the concert event "Liederabend", both in seminar form. The "Liedtage XIII" at the University of Music, which had been inviting to reading, portrait and Goethe concerts since 30 May, ended with the "Scholarship Concert". Lied professor Karl-Peter Kammerlander was the artistic director.
