Chamber music and lunch concerts
Music high school Schloss Belvedere with performances in Dresden, Berlin and Weimar
The East German music high schools are meeting in Dresden these days for a joint chamber music project. A total of 25 students in various ensemble sizes and formations are working on a concert program that will also be performed in the concert hall of the Belvedere Palace Music High School on Friday, May 5 at 6:30 pm.
Admission is free, but donations are requested for the benefit of "German Doctors e. V." as part of the UNESCO project school activities of the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere.
In addition to the Weimar Music High School as a center for highly gifted students of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, the "Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" Music High School in Berlin and the Saxon State High School for Music in Dresden are also participating in the chamber music project.
The rehearsal phase will take place under the direction of lecturers and professors from the Weimar Academy of Music, the "Carl Maria von Weber" Academy of Music in Dresden and the "Hanns Eisler" Academy of Music in Berlin. From Weimar Prof. Christian Sprenger works with the brass ensemble.
Another concert will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 6:00 p.m. in the Coronation Carriage Hall Neuer Marstall in Berlin. The program will include works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Christian Sprenger and Karlheinz Stockhausen. The cooperation between the East German music high schools has already existed for several years. Now, for the second time, a project with large chamber music ensembles is taking place.
Only a few days later, 13 students of the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere will perform again in Berlin. At the lunch concert on Wednesday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Berlin Philharmonie, they will play works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Anton Bruckner, Robert Muczynski and Eric Ewazen, among others. Since 2011, the music high school has received regular invitations to perform at luncheon concerts in Berlin.
