Heart is trump
A cappella concert “Human Heart” with three vocal ensembles presents expressive pop songs
In the a cappella concert “Human Heart,” the university ensembles “Die Katze im Sack,” the university choir, and the school music practice choir bring more than just beautiful sounds to the stage: expressive pop songs in the concert on Tuesday, February 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Saal Am Palais address topics that deeply affect young people today. Franny Fuchs and Martin Lorenz are responsible for the musical direction. Admission is free!
“What moves a young heart in a complex world? The songs deal with fears about the future, pressure to perform, social inequality – but also with the desire for love, freedom, justice, and solidarity,” says ensemble director Franny Fuchs. “Human Heart is a musical cry, a quiet consolation, a courageous look ahead. A cappella – honest, direct, touching.”
The university choir will present a pop segment developed during the winter semester, including the global hit “Chandelier” by Australian artist Sia. There will also be a mashup of the songs “Keine Zeit” by singer Dota and “36 Grad” by electro-pop duo 2raumwohnung. In addition, the university choir, conducted by Franny Fuchs, will sing the songs ‘Baraye’ by Shervin Hajipour and “Irgendwann glücklich” by Haller.
Further songs will be presented by the school music practice choir under the direction of SchuMu students and the vocal ensemble “Die Katze im Sack” under Martin Lorenz. The audience can look forward to a colorful spectrum of classic and current songs from pop history, including “Highroad” by Sir Woman, “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens, ‘Hemenway’ by Topic, and “Don't lose sight” by Lawrence. The hit “Human Heart” by Coldplay, We are King, and Jacob Collier will be performed as the final song by all ensembles.
