- Christiane Spannhof began her music education at the conservatory in her home town Rostock
- She studied from 1978 to 1982 at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar with Prof. Jürgen Rost
- In 1983 she won second place in the International Guitar Competition from Radio France in Paris
- In 1984 she won the first prize in the International Guitar Competition in Havanna, Kuba – as well as winning the prize for best interpretation of a Latin American work
- Christiane Spannhof can look back at many concerts both as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany and abroad
- She has also made many radio and television recordings and productions
- Since 1984 Christiane Spannhof has taught at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, since 1992 as professor of guitar
- Since 2003 she has been the Director of the Department of Guitar
