Prof. Uwe Komischke

Uwe Komischke, born in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1961, began his musical career at the age of 18 as 1st principal trumpet in the Gelsenkirchen Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1983, he moved to the same position with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under its chief conductor Sergiu Celibidache. Since 1994, Uwe Komischke has been Professor of Trumpet at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.

Uwe Komischke regularly performs as a soloist in numerous concerts in Germany and abroad. Composers such as Hans Stadlmair and Peter Michael Hamel have dedicated works to him and at festivals he has repeatedly worked with renowned soloists such as Yuri Bashmet, Eduard Brunner and Vassily Lobanov or ensembles such as the Moscow Soloists. 

In Europe, he performs around 45 to 55 concerts a year with organist Thorsten Pech, playing trumpet and organ. Uwe Komischke has been a member of the Westdeutsche Sinfonia Leverkusen since 2003. Uwe Komischke has also recorded various CDs. The recording of Joseph Haydn's Concerto in E flat major with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under Sergiu Celibidache caused a sensation. His performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 also demonstrate his exceptional class as a musician and instrumentalist.

The development of his own instrument series and his sheet music publications (EMR, Musikverlag Corpete, Edition DieWa) round off his biography. Following masterclasses, exchange visits and joint concerts, he has been awarded visiting professorships by both the SENZOKU GAKUEN University for Music in Tokyo and the Aichi University of the Arts in Nagoya. 

As part of his professorship at the Weimar Music university, Komischke regularly organises joint concert tours for the students in his class. He has already given highly acclaimed concerts in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Nagoya, Opole, Katowice, Warsaw, Malaga, Seville and many other cities in Germany.

Uwe Komischke made his debut as conductor of the Harmonieorchester at the 2016 Rectors' Conference of German Music universities (RKM) in Weimar with works by Richard Strauss and a cross-section of Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin. 

During his concert tours, he has worked both as a soloist and conductor with the Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra/Nanjing, the Shencheng Wind Orchestra (Shanghai), the Heilongjiang Opera House Orchestra (Harbin), the China Military Army Orchestra (Beijing) and others. Since 2017, he has regularly travelled there for concerts and is now also a welcome conductor.
