Never without a mouthpiece

New episode of the LISZTEN podcast with driver and musician Michael Kratzer

In the thirteenth episode of LISZTEN, presenter Christofer Hameister talks to university driver and musician Michael Kratzer.

Hardly anyone can tell as many anecdotes about the University of Music as he can: Michael Kratzer. For over twenty years, he has been in charge of all the driving services, taking the post from A to B and transporting students and instruments to the various performance venues.

Before his time on the red bus, Michael Kratzer was a musician himself and performed as a trumpet player with his Dixie band. Back then, he had to get permission to do so from GDR officials. Even today, he never travels without a mouthpiece, because who knows what it might be good for?

In the 150th anniversary year of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, the new podcast LISZTEN was launched. We don't look back at our history, but talk to the people who shape the University today.

Who teaches, studies and works here? How did they find their way to music and to the University? And what keeps them busy outside of music? Every month, different people from the fields of study, teaching and administration have their say - unfiltered and honest.

Presenter Christofer Hameister studied school music at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar and completed his journalistic traineeship at Antenne Thüringen in Weimar. Since 2019, he has been presenting various programmes on radio and television for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
