Music school? Yes!

New episode of the podcast LISZTEN with guitar student Philipp Lang

In the eighth episode of LISZTEN, host Christofer Hameister talks to guitar student Philipp Lang.

Practising every day - for a long time that was nothing for guitar student Philipp Lang. For many years, he was one of those who picked up the instrument just before the lesson so as not to be completely blank in front of the teacher. After all, that's how he learned to play at sight.

Today, Philipp Lang has changed roles: during his guitar studies at the HfM, he already sits opposite young pupils at two music schools. In this episode of LISZTEN, the guitarist talks to host Christofer Hameister about how students get started in music schools, why there is still enough time to practise and what advantages teaching brings.

In the 150th anniversary year of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, the new podcast LISZTEN was launched. We don't look back at our history, but talk to the people who shape the University today.

Who teaches, studies and works here? How did they find their way to music and to the University? And what keeps them busy outside of music? Every month, different people from the fields of study, teaching and administration have their say - unfiltered and honest.

Presenter Christofer Hameister studied school music at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar and completed his journalistic traineeship at Antenne Thüringen in Weimar. Since 2019, he has been presenting various programmes on radio and television for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb).
