"Days of Chamber Music" with round trips through music history from duo to sextet

The "Days of Chamber Music" at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar at the end of each semester have become a fine tradition. From 26 June to 12 July, students of orchestral instruments, guitar, piano and accordion present a wide range of works in instrumentations from duo to sextet.

In a total of 13 concerts, chamber music from various centuries for woodwinds and brass, for strings and for mixed ensembles can be experienced. Admission to all concerts is free!

"A highlight of the intensive semester's work is the presentation of what has been achieved in front of an audience - an exciting, thrilling and beautiful moment for the students, for the teachers and for the university as an institution," says Prof. Christian Wilm Müller, Artistic Director of the "Days of Chamber Music". "Look forward to a multi-faceted selection of works for various chamber music ensembles, from different periods and places of origin."

The very first concert on Monday, 26 June at 7:30 pm in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus offers an "airy evening" with works for woodwind ensembles. The programme includes the Quintet for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon op.43 by Carl Nielsen, Francis Poulenc's Sextet for Winds and Piano and - as a contemporary work - Alyssa Morris' "Brush Strokes" for flute, oboe and bassoon.

Under the motto "Piano Chamber Music - An (Animal) Pleasure", works from Bach to Baratto are then on the programme on Wednesday, 29 June at 4:00 pm in the Forum Seebach. The Adagio from Johann Sebastian Bach's Flute Sonata in E major can be experienced as well as Paolo Baratto's "High and Low" for flute, tuba and piano.

"The programme of the third concert will be even more colourful and diverse," promises Prof. Christian Wilm Müller about the "Chamber Music Round Trip" on Saturday, 1 July at 7:30 pm in the Saal Am Palais. Johannes Brahms' Horn Trio in E-flat major op. 40, Sergei Rachmaninov's Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G minor and Leo Brouwer's "Música Incidental Campesina" for two guitars will be performed.

Finally, "Many-stringed Romanticism" awaits the audience on Monday, 3 July at 7:30 pm in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. Not to be missed are César Franck's famous Violin Sonata in A major, Robert Schumann's Adagio and Allegro op. 70 for violoncello and piano, and Gabriel Fauré's Piano Quintet in D minor op. 89.
