Happiness researcher as guest

University of Music celebrates 151st birthday with Prof. Dr. Michaela Brohm-Badry and lots of music

The public is welcome to attend the matinee as part of the 151st anniversary of the university: The Weimar University of Music has invited the renowned author and learning researcher Prof. Dr. Michaela Brohm-Badry to give a lecture at its "Dies Academicus" on Saturday, 24 June at 11:00 a.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.

The motivation expert will speak on the topic "Mit Rückenwind durch wilde Zeiten. Music in the mirror of positive psychological insights for a good life". Admission to the event is free!

The lecture will be framed by a welcome address by University President Prof. Anne-Kathrin Lindig - and lots of music. The Vimare Quartet will play the first movement of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's String Quartet No. 2 in A minor op. 13 and the traditional Norwegian song "Old Reinlender from Sonndala".

The harpsichordists Eszter Szedmák and Sangmi Choi will present the composition "B-A-C-H" as a perpetuum mobile for two harpsichords from the pen of their major professor Bernhard Klapprott. In addition, music theory student Diana Lizura will perform her own piano arrangement of Franz Liszt's "Andante religiosamente", among other works.

Prof. Dr. Michaela Brohm-Badry says about her lecture: "Meeting life with joie de vivre is an important resource of human existence. In more difficult life situations, we often have the impression that we have little access to this source of life-affirming energy. Positive psychology provides refreshing impulses to defy crises - for more vitality and resilience in a well-being life. The lecture combines this perspective with a look at music psychology findings."

Prof. Dr. Michaela Brohm-Badry is a learning researcher, author and keynote speaker. She is a professor of learning research and was Dean of the Department of Education, Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Trier for many years. She holds a doctorate in musicology and received her training in Positive Psychology in New York. Her research focuses on motivation and positive psychology.

She is president of the "German Society for Positive Psychological Research" (DGPPF), a blogger on Spektrum der Wissenschaft and a columnist for WirtschaftsWoche.
