4th Alumni reunion on 30 October 2011

A total of 230 alumni from our university revisited their old university town of Weimar on 30 October 2011, to participate in the 4th alumni get-together, cementing old friendships and making new contacts. University President Professor Christoph Stölzl, Vice-President Professor Elmar Fulda and Chancellor Christine Gurk greeted the alumni who had travelled from near and far, telling them about the latest developments at the university.

At the celebrations, held in the cafeteria by the park, a student ensemble, with soloists Ute Klemm and Judith Eisenhofer, played Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, captivating visitors. Before the concert, the alumni enjoyed the opportunity to follow the development of the university and its buildings over the decades in a video screening, or to study the memories that people had sent in about their time in Weimar, which were printed on large posters.

Following the welcoming ceremony, there were refreshments and there was also plenty of time to chat and catch up. Lots of people also made use of the opportunity to enjoy a tour through the freshly renovated Liszt House, while others were keen to look at ‘their’ old rooms in the Fürstenhaus or the Klostergebäude Am Palais. The crowning glory of the get-together was the final concert of the 7th International FRANZ LISZT Piano Competition Weimar-Bayreuth, with the Staatskapelle Weimar, which was sold out.
