- Born in 1961 in Schwelm
- On completion of his studies,began his career at the age of 18 as lead trumpeter in the Philharmonic Orchestra in Gelsenkirchen
- In 1983 transferred to the Munich Philharmonic to the equivalent position under the baton of Sergiu Celibidache
- Plays in solo concerts both in Germany and abroad and can also be heard on various CDs
- Composers such as Hans Stadlmair and Peter Michael Hamel have dedicated works to him
- In festivals still plays with well-known soloists including Natalia Gutmann, Yuri Bashmet, Eduard Brunner and Vassily Lobanov as well as with ensembles such as the Moskauer Solisten
- Also performs with his brass quintet "Best of Brass". Their first CD has just been released and the second is in production.
- His recording of the Concerto Eb Major for Trumpet and Orchestra by Josef Haydn with the Munich Philharmonic under the baton of Sergiu Celibidache was a sensation
- His performances of the 2nd Brandenburg Concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach also proved him to be a first-class musician
- The promotion of his own instrumental series as well as his score publications (EMR, Musikverlag Corpete) complete his biography
- In 1990 he was a guest professor at the Senzoku-Gakuen High School for Music in Tokyo
- Since September 1994 Professor of trumpet at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar
