  • Studied classical saxophone at the Academy of Music in Detmold, Department Münster, and jazz at the Academy of Music and Arts in Graz
  • Between 1976 and 1978 studies with Herb Geller
  • From 1978 regular performances as first alto saxophonist in the Big Band of the NDR in Hamburg and later with the NDR in Hannover, Radio Bremen and WDR in Cologne
  • Numerous concerts, productions and recordings with musicians such as Benny Bailey, Dave Liebman, Bill Dobbins, Anthony Braxton, Philip Catherine, Paul Kuhn, Walter Norris, Joe Pass, Jiggs Whigham, Ray Anderson and Danny Richmond
  • Since 1987 teacher in German academies (Münster, Bremen)
  • Since 1995 professor at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar
  • Since 2006 Director of the Department of Jazz at the LISZT University
