State exam ('Staatsexamen')
In addition to the double-major in music degree for teaching at grammar schools (Bachelor / Master of Education) the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar offers a course in teaching at grammar schools, graduating with the first state exam ('Staatsexamen').
This course is taught in co-operation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU), which students will need to attend for their second teaching subject.
Courses offered at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar:
Core performance subject (instruments, voice), piano (if not chosen as the core subject), classroom piano-playing, additional secondary instrument, voice, voice training, elocution, choir conducting and orchestral conducting, rhythm studies, music theory, aural training, music pedagogy, musicology
The standard duration of the programme is 10 terms.
