The University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar is a lively international academy based in Weimar, one of Europe's centres of cultural heritage. Its foundation goes back to the idea of no less a figure than the great pianist, composer, and pedagogue Franz Liszt. The LISZT University offers its roughly 900 students a wide range of courses in performing, pedagogic, and scholarly subjects. It places much weight on a strong sense of team-spirit in teaching and performance alike, in its dialogue with scholarship, and in its many co-operations with the professional music world.
