The mezzo-soprano began her musical education at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and studied singing with Walter Berry and Gerhard Kahry in Vienna from 1984. Born in Salzburg, she has been singing at the world's greatest opera houses and concert halls for years. In trouser roles such as Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro or as Octavian in Strauss' Rosenkavalier, Angelika Kirchschlager has set international standards. She has embodied title roles in operas such as Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande or in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia and caused a sensation with her interpretation of Sophie in Nicholas Maw's opera Sophie's Choice. In 2007 Angelika Kirchschlager was appointed Kammersängerin of the Vienna State Opera and in 2009 an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London. She also devotes special attention to lieder and concert singing. Performances have taken her to the great concert halls of Europe, Japan and the USA. Her extensive repertoire ranges from Bach to Brahms, Debussy and Korngold to Mahler, Mendelssohn and Rossini, Schubert, Schumann, Weill and Wolf. She has also won several ECHO Classic prizes and a Grammy.

During the course, in addition to the individual lessons, there is the possibility to rehearse two vocal quartets by Franz Schubert. If you are interested, please make a note of this when you register (indicate the program). If there are enough interested students, the sheet music will be sent to you before the beginning of the course.
