Lukas Hagen - Violin & Chamber Music

(c) Lukas Beck

26 July - 1 August 2020

The Hagen Quartet is legendary - and still active 39 years after its foundation. It has been first prize winner of international competitions and has recorded roughly 45 CDs exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon over the last 20 years. Of the original four siblings, three are still present, including Lukas Hagen as the primarius of the world-famous string quartet. Born in Salzburg, he studied at the Mozarteum University, receiving private lessons from Gidon Kremer. Since 1999 he himself has been professor for violin and chamber music at the Mozarteum. Lukas Hagen sits in the juries of international competitions, also in Weimar’s 2019 International JOSEPH JOACHIM Chamber Music Competition, and gives masterclasses worldwide. Besides the quartet he is violinist of the Serapion Ensemble and the Salzburger Streich. He spent seven years as concertmaster in the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and has been a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Claudio Abbado. In 2004, Lukas Hagen and his wife Iris founded the chamber music festival Hagen Open at Feistritz Castle, south of Vienna.
