Grigory Gruzman - Piano

(c) Guido Werner

20 - 25 July 2019

Gruzman’s student Can Çakmur recently won first prize at the 10th International Hamamatsu Piano Competition in Japan, and his student Mariam Batsashvili has long been an ECHO Rising Star and winner of the Liszt Piano Competitions in Weimar and Utrecht. And these are just two examples from the highly successful piano class that Prof. Grigory Gruzman has been leading since 2006 at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Liszt Weimar. Born in St. Petersburg in 1956, Gruzman as a great talent was accepted into the special music school for gifted children of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. He later appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in ensembles such as the Shostakovich trio, and as a director at international masterclasses in almost all European countries, in Asia, Latin America and the USA. From 1998 to 2006 Grigory Gruzman taught at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre before following his calling to Weimar in 2006.
