David Walter - Oboe

Michael Sanderling
(c) Yves Pertau

14 - 19 July 2019

It is Walter’s versatility that makes him so distinguished: not only is he a master of the oboe, but he is also active as a conductor from Baroque to Jazz, as well as a composer and arranger. Since 1987, he has been teaching as a professor of oboe and chamber music at his alma mater, the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. From 1997 to 2009 he also held a professorship at the Guildhall School of Music in London. His passion for teaching has led him to masterclasses in more than 40 countries. At the same time, David Walter has always pursued his career as a soloist on five continents as well as a chamber musician with the Moragues Quintet and the ensemble Pasticcio Barocco. As a conductor, he has worked with the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, the Orchestra de Rennes and the Royal Orchestra of Wallonia - and as a composer, particularly in the field of chamber music, he has now published more than 30 of his own works.
