Born into a family of visual artists in 1972, Florian Wiek has made a name for himself through his international concert activities in Europe, Israel and South America. This has taken him to concert halls such as the Berlin and Cologne Philharmonie, the Hamburg Musikhalle, the Beethovenhalle Bonn and numerous festivals. He is at home in most musical areas - from solo recital and concerts with orchestra to ensemble playing, chamber music and lied. His repertoire includes works from the baroque to the latest creations. His pianistic training took Florian Wiek to the Musikhochschule Köln, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. In 1999 he won the prize of the German Music Competition as a duo with the cellist Justus Grimm and was awarded the gold medal at the "Concurso internationale Maria Canals" in Barcelona. In 2002 he founded the Trio Wiek with the flutist Christina Fassbender and the cellist Justus Grimm, which has performed successfully at international festivals. Since then, Trio Wiek has recorded almost its entire repertoire on CD. In 2004, Florian Wiek was appointed professor of piano and piano chamber music at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. Since 2020, he has directed the chamber music festival "Resonanzräume" in Stuttgart.
