Eva-Marie Schmitt studied singing, vocal pedagogy and elementary music pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien. As a singer she participated in concerts in Germany and abroad with various chamber music ensembles and choirs (including e.g. Kölner Kammerchor/Ltg. Peter Neumann) as well as soloist in concerts and operas e.g. Theater Aachen 2015 as Miles in Benjamin Britten's "Turn of the Screw").

From 2017-2022 she worked as a research assistant for elementary music education at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz. She taught voice and elementary music pedagogy at various music schools in Cologne, working with different age and target groups, such as children in daycare centers, senior citizens, people with refugee experience, and parents and their young children.

She has also worked as a voice coach for choirs ranging from children's choirs to men's choral societies.
She is a regular speaker for further training of pedagogical specialists at various institutions. Her main focus is on the teaching of a healthy voice and a culturally sensitive song repertoire.

Eva-Marie Schmitt is also pursuing a doctoral project with the working title "The musical everyday life of preschool children - a qualitative empirical portrait study of listening habits, access routes and ways of dealing with music". Based on interviews with children, the perspectives of children on the topic of "music in everyday life" will be explored.

At the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, she has been teaching since 2022 as part of a qualification position in the master's program in elementary music education/rhythmics.
