Rodrigo Cardoso Affonso, born in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) is a PhD candidate in music/conducting at the University of Aveiro in Portugal. He has a postgraduate artistic diploma in choral conducting (Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts), a master’s degree in conducting/ interpretation practice, and a bachelor in school music (UNIRIO – national university of Rio de Janeiro). He has been (and continues to be) a panel judge at many international choral competitions, including the 2013 competition in Daejeon (South Korea) and the 2018 International Choir Competition in Miltenberg.

Together with the women’s choir “ElektraVokal” that he founded in 2017, he won first prize at choir competitions in Büdingen 2018 and Bernbach 2019, as well as gaining third place at the Grand Prix of the international choral competition in Aveiro (Portugal) 2019.

He has worked as a guest conductor with renown choirs, including “Arsys Bourgogne” (France) and “Camerata Vocale Daejeon” (South Korea). Rodrigo Cardoso Affonso has worked as a lecturer for harmony and form in Brazil and has taught international seminars and workshops in choral conducting since 2005 in South Korea, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Germany. He also runs the course “Jornades Corals” in Valencia (Spain).
