Repertoire
The complete repertoire for the 8th International JOSEPH JOACHIM Chamber Music Competition 2019 consists of 8 different original works:
• three works composed before 1830
• three works from the romantic period
• one work composed after 1900 (The string quartet of Claude Debussy is admitted in this section). Due to the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus 2019, it is desired that the program contains a work that is from the same period/context as the historic Bauhaus (1919-1933).
• one work composed after 1960
First Round
a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
The maximum length of the program is 30 minutes. The Jury will determine which movements are to be performed.
Second Round
a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
Note: Both works must not be repeated from the first round of the competition.
c) one work composed after 1960
The total length of the program is about 60 minutes. The Jury will determine which movements are to be performed.
Finale
a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
Note: Both works must not be repeated from the first and second rounds of the competition.
c) one work composed after 1900 (it is desirable that this work is from the same period/context as the Bauhaus)
The maximum length of the program must not exceed 90 minutes.
