The 10th International JOSEPH JOACHIM Chamber Music Competition 2025 in Weimar

The University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar is organising the "10th International JOSEPH JOACHIM Competition | Chamber Music" in spring 2025. The competition will take place from 30 March to 6 April 2025 in the Fürstenhaus of the Weimar Music university and honours the legacy of the important violinist and composer Joseph Joachim by promoting artistic excellence in chamber music.

Registration for the competition begins in October 2024, with the application deadline being 19 January 2025.

This prestigious competition offers young chamber music ensembles an exceptional opportunity to showcase their talent. The best ensembles that make it through the two rounds and the final can win prizes totalling more than 20,000 euros.

The main prize is worth 10,000 euros. In addition to the substantial prize money, the participants receive international recognition and valuable networking opportunities. The competition is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.

Competitors are required to present a diverse repertoire ranging from early classical to contemporary works. Among other things, works from the early and late classical period as well as the Romantic period are required. There will also be a focus on modern music with works composed after 1900 and 1970.

The high-calibre, international jury, chaired by Weimar University President and violinist Anne-Kathrin Lindig, consists of experienced musicians and teachers. Ensembles of the string trio and string quartet or piano trio and piano quartet genres are eligible. Competitors of all nationalities must have been born after 30 March 1990.
