Marc Copland - Jazz Piano

Marc Copland
(c) Francesco Prandoni

16- 19 July 2017

Unfortunately, this course must be canceled.

Born in Philadelphia (USA), Marc Copland exquisitely mastered the alto saxophone in the mid-1970s. He worked in New York together with renowned colleagues such as Ralph Towner, Chico Hamilton and John Abercrombie. But at some point he began to realize that something wasn’t quite right: "The music that I was playing was not the music I was hearing in my head." He spontaneously put aside his saxophone, fiercely practiced piano and studied other pianists. In 1985 he sensed that he was ready for the beginning of a second career as a jazz pianist. Each of his CD recordings since then has presented new facets, whether it be "Another Place" (2008) with his old companion Abercrombie, the mystical expeditions with the trumpeter Tim Hagans ("Alone Together"- 2008) or the intimate discourse in the quartet with Jason Seizer ("Time Being").
