Repertoire

The complete repertoire for the 7th International JOSEPH JOACHIM Chamber Music Competition 2016 consists of eight original works by different composers:

• three works composed before 1830
• three works from the romantic period
• one work composed after 1900 (The string quartet by Claude Debussy is permitted in this section)
• a compulsory piece written after 2013


First Round

a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
The maximum length of the program is 30 minutes.
The Jury will determine which movements are to be performed.


Second Round
a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
Note: Both works must not be repeated from the first round of the competition.
c) the winning work of the composition competition between the Dresden, Leipzig and Weimar Musikhochschulen; 6 min. You can download the score and individual voices here.
The total length of the program is about 60 minutes. The Jury will determine which movements are to be performed.

Finale
a) one work composed before 1830
b) one work from the romantic period
Note: Both works may not be repeated from the first and second rounds of the competition.
c) one work composed after 1900
The maximum length of the program must not exceed 90 minutes.
