- Degree in Musicology (diploma in 1982, doctorate in 1988) at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg
- 1985–1998: Research fellow at the Department of Musicology at the aforementioned university
- From then until 2002: Freelance work, including lecturing in Halle, specialist translation from Czech, teaching, 2000-2008 freelance work with MGG’s editorial team
- From October 2002 onwards: Research fellow at the RISM Dresden office at the University Archive | Thuringian Regional Music Aarchive at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar
- Fields of research: music history of Central Germany, music history of Bohemia and Moravia, Czech-German musical relationships, the presentation of the works of G. F. Handel and J. S. Bach
