Prof. Gerlinde Otto

Gerlinde Otto, born in Halle an der Saale, attended the special school for music in her hometown before starting her studies at the University for Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig. She studied with Professors Heinz Volger, Lidia Kozubek (Warszawa) and Rolf-Dieter Arens. Gerlinde Otto has been a professor at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar since 1992 and now teaches as an emeritus lecturer. Young pianists from all over the world studied in her class, including many winners of national and international competitions who are themselves active in important positions today.
Gerlinde Otto regularly gives master classes in various countries such as Norway, Romania, Turkey, Italy, China, Korea and Canada. She was and is active as a juror at national and international music competitions and since 2010 she has been president of the jury of the international piano competition FRANZ LISZT Weimar-Bayreuth. Concert tours have taken Gerlinde Otto to Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, the former Soviet Union, Canada, Korea and China. Many productions as a soloist and chamber musician for radio and television as well as CD recordings round off her artistic work. The recording of the “Well-Tempered Clavier”, Volume 2, published by GENUIN, received a lot of international attention.
