Konstantin Scherbakov comes from the most famous forge for piano virtuosos: the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. At the age of 20, Scherbakov won the 1983 Rachmaninov Competition in Moscow and started his career with hundreds of concerts throughout the former USSR. He has performed the complete piano works of Rachmaninov, Prokofiev and Ravel, placing an emphasis on Russian and French repertoire - but also always remained true to his "friends of the heart" Beethoven and Schubert. He has recorded over 40 CDs for the Naxos label. Scherbakov gives recitals all over the world, between Zurich and Taipei, Novosibirsk and New York. In 1998 he was appointed professor at the Zurich University of the Arts and also teaches at master classes in Italy, France and Germany as well as outside of Europe. He is also a jury member of the Busoni Competition in Bolzano. Konstantin Scherbakov has been a popular regular guest at the Weimar Master Classes for many years.
