Category II 14 –16 years


First Round

  1. J. S. Bach: one piece from the Well-tempered Clavier 1 and 2 (Prelude and fugue) or
    three consecutive movements from a Partita or
    one English Suite, BWV 806 – 811 or
    D. Scarlatti: 2 Sonatas

  2. F. Liszt: one etude from: Grandes études Paganini (S141), excluding G major and E major or
    one études de concert (S144 or S145)

  3. F. Chopin: one virtuose étude from: Éudes op. 10 or
    Études pour piano op. 25

  4. L. v. Beethovenone sonata-form movement (sonata allegro) from a piano sonata
    (excluding op.49, 79, 101, 106, 109, 110 and 111)

Length of playing: A maximum of 20 minutes within which repeats may be played.


Second Round

  1. one piece of chamber music performed together with a pupil of the Musikgymnasium Belvedere
    (A list of possible pieces to choose from will be send after the application) or
    a piece composed by the candidate him / herself (The music must be handed to the jury) or 
    one improvised piece for which the candidate will be given a choice of themes after the nomination for the second round

  2. F. Liszt: one work from
    Ballades (S170 und 171)
    Hungarian Rhapsodies (S244)
    Two Polonaise (S223)
    Années de pèlerinage II– Italie: Book 1 (excluding no. 7) and Book 2

  3. onework of the 20th century composed before 1950

  4. one work composed after 1950

Length of playing: A maximum of 30 minutes in which repeats maybe played.
